2010 Maintenance Dues Applied to Brand New Gym Floor
April 05, 2010 —
Amkor students were very excited to hear that this years dues have been applied to the installation of a brand new gym floor!
The importance of replacing our gym floor:
Most importantly, SAFETY! As a physical sport, when taking a landing, having safe and secure mats to land on is crucial. Even with training in break fall techniques, landing on a solid surface and/or an outdated mat system can cause severe injuries both in short and longer terms. Gym floors have a life expectancy of 3 years. During this 3 year time frame, the floor begins to stretch and will eventually not fit a replacement anymore. The mat loses its' stiffness over time and will buckle with temperature changes and when the mat shifts it pinches against the wall and buckles. The current gym floor had a life expectancy of 3 years.
Amkor is just as excited as our students to begin using the new gym floor. We thank everyone for submitting their gym dues. If you still need to submit your dues, please see Master Matys.
A Special Request: To keep our new mats as safe as possible for our students, please do not walk on the mats when wearing shoes. The mats are intended to be used with bare feet. On the mats that we are replacing, we have found a number or areas that have been damaged due to exposure to shoes (especially shoes with heels).
Thank you in advance for helping us to keep our mats safe for our students.
Thank You,
Master Matys
